What are hair hanging acts?

The hair hanging act, is circus act classified within the aerial techniques, since in this act, the artist is suspended from a roof rigging point, usually with a three-phase industrial engine or winch.

This type of act is generally carried out by women, although lately men have begun to venture into this discipline dominated by female artists.

Some people in an informal manner may agree that the origins of this act can be traced towards South America, however others agree that the origin of said act is on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, in the lands of China.

This act consists of one or several artists suspended from the hair by means of a knot made with the artist's own hair, manufactured with a jealously saved technique, and the of suspension pointor rigging.

Being suspended from its hair, the artist can perform various plastic or choreographic postures, while in static suspension, or in a conical pendulum flight movement pattern.

One of the first things that impress the spectators, is the fact of seeing a person suspended from his hair, which goes against the common sense of most people.

What most people does not know is that on average a single human hair fiber can support up to 90 grams on average, and if we multiply that with the average of 90,000 hair in the adult human head (without alopecia), Then a healthy human hair could hold up to 8100 kilograms of weight, something surprising.
